If I have to hear "Shōi" (lieutenant) one more time I'm gonna throw hands.
I really wanted to like this sequel since I liked the first one enough, but the plot made it difficult to stay engaged; it was just too predictable from the start. I really liked Haikara-san in the first film, but here, she was just annoying to me. All of the problems I had with this movie made it near impossible for me to enjoy the ending. Quite unfortunate.
Side note: Tosei Aoe deserved better

No cuz that was so good, like I was rlly on a rollercoaster of emotions. 10/10 bonding experience with my mom who normally doesn’t like movies.

It was fairly apparently from even the previous film that this sequel was going to go in a completely different direction, and while I get that it’s canonical to the source material, the plot is absolutely ridiculous and a fairly contrived conflict.
Though it’s nice to spend time with these beloved characters once more, that’s about the extent of the charm that this film has with the previous one. The nuance and social commentary is pretty much tossed out the window in favor for a ridiculous mystery.
Considering how well executed the first one was, this sequel was a huge disappointment.

Part 1 was decent, but part 2 was really bad as it tried to put all kinds of melodrama cliches in a single movie.

this way way more dramatic than the easygoing one but i’m torn 🥲 if only they weren’t stupid and had been honest in the first place, we could have saved everyone all these heartaches 😀.
i dont know if i should cringe or rejoice or be frustrated — another predictable film 😩
i swear aoe tosei deserved better and onijima had so much potential too. i know miyano mamoru would always be my favorite but how can i live with this??!?!

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Long haired men are doomed in this anime, this isn't a bbg friendly space it seems.
"Shoi Shoi Shoi Shoi" shut up oh my god!!!!! #shoiwordcount!
I'll go back on the movie to actually count it someday, just me, the movie and a whiteboard.Their break up will never match the intensity of the satosugu KFC one.
If everything burned down on my wedding day, I'd probably reconsider. Not to mention the earthquake and the girl's death.
Wow fawkk girl,, u're cheating right after the wedding. WHORE !!!! WHOREEEEE!Aoe deserved better. Onijima too. SHIT MOVIE !!!!!! oh nevermind, Tamaki is a real one fr.

While the first movie kind of managed to be a compelling movie clearly based on a serialized story, this movie... doesn't. There are at least 5 plot twists too many for a single movie. If this were a TV show, it'd be grand and work well with all the melodrama and insanity, but one movie can't do it all.
I'm glad this 70s story got a remake, but I wish it had been given the opportunity to be a series instead, which would work much better for its storytelling, and I hope someday the original anime series becomes available in English.
