As Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson took the Cannes Film Festival red carpet to debut their new film, Die, My Love, our inner teens were absolutely screaming.
The former stars of beloved YA fantasy series, The Hunger Games and Twilight, sent the internet into meltdown as they appeared together ahead of their new film premiering. And then, there’s the film itself. Early reviews are hailing the psychological thriller as ‘mesmerising’ and ‘astonishing’.
So what do you need to know about the film that’s stolen the Cannes spotlight? Scroll on.
What Is Die, My Love About?
Die, My Love couldn’t be further from the hit teen dramas that catapulted both Lawrence and Pattinson to fame. A raw and brutal psychological drama, the film is based on the book by the same name from author Ariana Harwicz and explores themes of motherhood, marriage, desire and isolation.
“Set in a remote forgotten rural area, Die My Love follows a mother (Lawrence) who struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis. Pattinson plays her husband and [LaKeith] Stanfield, her lover,” the film synopsis reads.
As Lawrence’s character struggles with the banality of love and life as a new mother, reality and fantasy blur building to a breaking point that becomes a question of not when it will happen but how violent it will be.
At a Cannes press conference, Lawrence spoke to the way motherhood changed her. “Having children changes everything. It changes your whole life. It’s brutal and incredible,” she said via People.
“It’s almost like feeling like a blister or something, so sensitive,” she said of her two children, “They’ve changed my life, obviously, for the best, and they’ve changed me creatively. I highly recommend having kids, if you want to be an actor.”

Die, My Love Release Date
Die, My Love premiered at the Cannes film festival on May 17th, 2025 to a six-minute standing ovation. Its debut also led to a bidding war for the distribution rights that was ultimately won out by MUBI who will ultimately set the release date for the rest of the world to watch. Unfortunately, that date is yet to be confirmed but with the film ready for audiences, we don’t anticipate a long wait.
Where To Watch Die, My Love
It is yet to be confirmed, but given MUBI’s deal for the rights to Die, My Love, we can only assume the film will be available to watch on the streaming platform. MUBI is available in Australia, however it also has deals with streaming platforms like Prime Video and Apple, so the film could be available on these platforms for an extra cost.
Die, My Love Trailer
The first trailer for the film has been released, giving the audience an eerie insight into just how twisty and disturbing the film will be.
In the clip, we see the two leads crawling on all fours through a grassy field, before Pattinson’s character asks his partner if she wants to get married. Watch on below.
